Volunteer

The Veggie Parade is completely coordinated by volunteers – we wouldn’t exist without them! We’re currently recruiting for volunteers to help out the day of the parade (and a little bit leading up to it!). See full descriptions below, if you’re interested in helping out please fill out this form by June 16, 12am (with the exception of the Audio Technician and Communications positions).

Audio Technician

Help prepare and troubleshoot audio tech for the parade.

  • Before the parade: Help us choose and prepare the audio system(s) for parade music and potentially a keynote speaker.
  • During the parade: Help set up the audio system(s) and troubleshoot if needed.

Time Commitment: A few hours leading up to the parade, and July 7, 3 hours (11am-2pm)

Note: Applications for this position are due June 7, 12am.

Communications

We need to get the word out about the Veggie Parade to surrounding communities, and the rest of Toronto! Sign up for this role and help us:

  • Before the parade: Drop off flyers and posters in stores and businesses surrounding the parade route
  • Before the parade: Help share our social media content to new online communities
  • During the parade: Help us show everyone what a great time we’re having by live posting the parade!

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a week from June 1 – July 7

Registration Support

Help coordinate volunteer and group registrations.

Time Commitment: July 7, 1.5 hours (10:30 am-12:00pm)

Greeter

Help greet and guide groups and marchers as they arrive to set up and prepare for the parade.

Time Commitment: July 7, 1.5 hours (10:30am-12:00pm)

Veggie Parade Ambassador

Help engage parade bystanders by:

  • Leaf-letting: Hand out Veggie Parade postcards and talk to passersby about the parade.
  • Holding banners: Carry our Veggie Parade banner and raise excitement!
  • Hug-a-Veggie: If you’d like, dress up in a fruit/vegetable costume and give passersby high fives and hugs (with their permission of course)!

Time Commitment: July 7, 3 hours (11:30am-2:30pm)

Face Painter

Use your artistic skills to paint veg-friendly designs and get people in the veggie spirit!

Time Commitment: July 7, 1.5 hours (10:30am-12:00pm)

Parade Marshal

Walk alongside the parade to help make sure everyone is safe and that any issues are reported to the Chief Parade Marshal.

Time Commitment: July 7, 3 hours (11:30am-2:30pm)

Photographer

Do you have a camera? Help us capture those special moments that people can remember forever.

Time Commitment: July 7, 3 hours during the parade (11:30am-2:30pm) and editing time afterwards

Videographer

Do you have experience in putting together videos? We are looking for folks who can help put together awesome videos that highlight the parade.
